![]() | The wedding ceremony will start at 2pm (promptly, as Katrina is never late). The Church in which we are having our wedding is St. Mary Magdalene, right in the middle of Taunton. It's a beautiful old Church (with origins dating back to the 8th Century), and is massive. However, we recommend getting there early for a good seat, as the enormous pillars can restrict views from anywhere other than the central aisle. More about the Church can be found here. Children are extremely welcome, and any carnage they bring is thoroughly encouraged. |
Directions:
By car: From the M5, take exit 25, along the A358 (A38) into Taunton. At the traffic lights, head straight over on to Priory Avenue. From here we recommend that you park at the Cricket Ground, and therefore take the second exit at the second roundabout on to Priory Bridge Road, which will lead you up to a small entrance to the cricket ground on your left.
From here it is a short walk to the Church, through the cricket ground to the exit on the opposite side, turn right on to Priory Avenue, first left down Canon Street, first right up Middle Street, and then just by a restaurant called "The Sanctuary" turn left up a little alley (or strictly speaking, go straight on, but it's left off the road which curves round to the right!), and this will take you to the front of the Church.
Alternatively, there is a car park behind the Church, but you will be fighting with Taunton’s legion of Saturday shoppers, and paying for the privilege. However, if you would like to park here instead, then rather than taking the second exit from the roundabout off Priory Avenue, take the first, continuing along Priory Avenue. Turn left up Canon Street (opposite the south entrance to the Cricket Club), then take the second right into the car park. The Church is at the opposite end of the car park to where you go in.
By train: Taunton Station is a fairly major hub in the South West, so there should be a decent train service from wherever you are. Londoners can catch a train from Paddington. The station's a very short cab ride or a 10 - 15 minute walk to the Church, depending on the size of your stilletos.
